That view is one of the best parts of staying at Heavens Rest. It’s such an easy place to unwind after a busy day, and the quiet, private cabins have blackout blinds and a very comfy couch. We’ve stayed twice in the past six months and wished we could have stayed longer both times. Both visits were in two bedroom cabins. On our first trip we got upgraded from a one bedroom cabin because it was off peak, so we booked the bigger option again when we came back. The extra space and bathroom were worth paying more for. The cabins are spotless, with fresh sheets, and the fridge and pantry are thoughtfully stocked with continental breakfast supplies. We love having toast ready for a late night arrival. The animals are clearly well cared for and come over to the fence when you stop by to say hello. There’s free wifi, parking, a TV, a BBQ, and plenty of other handy little touches. We paid a good price on both trips. I haven’t met Robert, but it’s clear he works hard behind the scenes to make Heavens Rest what it is. If you need somewhere on the outskirts of Auckland, this place should be high on your list. We’ll be back!

The goats in the paddock were right there beyond the big, flat lawn, and the doors opened straight onto the deck. Inside, there was loads of room, with an already spacious lounge that gets even bigger if you open up the extra side lounge. The farmhouse had everything we needed and more. The bed linen was lovely quality, and breakfast supplies were great: free range eggs, butter and Olivani, plus both Marmite and Vegemite to choose from. Really enjoyed it.

Robert gave us a really warm welcome and showed us the kitchen, where we could help ourselves to the breakfast supplies he’d left for us. The other two guests were a lovely bonus, and the whole place felt like home. The room was beautiful and spotless, with sliding doors onto a lovely veranda. The bathroom was huge, with a great walk in shower and an enormous bath. There were so many thoughtful little touches. We felt lucky to share the place. Thank you. E x

Robert was a great host, and the cabin made an excellent first stop after landing at Auckland Airport. It had a lovely view and was well worth the price. The pantry was stocked with all the basics we needed, including tea, coffee, milk, bread and a range of spreads.

Rob made us feel very welcome. The unit was spacious and well equipped, and breakfast was included. It’s in a lovely, peaceful spot just two minutes from the motorway. A great stay.
