Cambridge TOP 10 Holiday Park

We had a great night’s sleep in the comfortable beds, even though the room was small. The whole campground was very clean and tidy. We stayed one night with a friend over Waitangi weekend, but the showers were terrible: barely any water pressure, and the water would suddenly turn cold.

The powered sites are large and flat, and the campground facilities were very clean. We really enjoyed the heated pool and spa, the best pool area we’ve seen on our travels. The outdoor kitchen and BBQ area are perfect. My one small complaint is that the Wi-Fi kept dropping out. Apart from that, the camp is perfect.

The pool and hot tub looked lovely and brand new, though I didn’t use them. There were only four washer-driers for such a big park, so I had to wait ages. The facilities were okay, and the receptionist was lovely. What brought my rating down was the price: online, non-powered sites were listed at $42, but I was charged $70. That made it the most expensive campsite of my four months travelling around NZ. I didn’t mention it at the time. The receptionist let me pick a spot near the facilities but didn’t explain that other spaces cost differently. I would have taken that into account when choosing. I feel it was a little misleading.

The site was good, very clean, and had great facilities. But it was noisy, with cars racing down the street and people screaming inside and outside the park at all hours, which woke me up. There’s not much they can do about noise from outside, though. Overall, a good stay.
