We had dinner and drinks in this lovely old building. It had a warm fire going on a cold night and a really good atmosphere. I'm a wheelchair user, and the place, including the bathroom, was accessible. The waiter was good too.

The food was a real highlight. The lamb rump was tender and tasty, the croquettes were amazing, and we ate here both nights of our two-night stay. The staff were lovely and gave us recommendations for nearby hikes, including diamond lake and Rocky Mountain trail, which were insane!!! We had such a special stay. The room was cute, tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable, with gorgeous views and a little balcony that was lovely to sit on. Laundry and amenities were spot on. The historic hotel and restaurant had amazing artwork, and I raided the gift shop because I wanted to buy everything. After travelling for a while, this is the most charming, cosy, characteristic hotel my partner and I have stayed in. It was brilliant and unbelievable value for money. One of my favourite places in the world, and I hope I get to visit again. Thank you so, so much.

There was quite a bit of noise from adjoining rooms. You could hear people walking around or checking in late, though with a property this old, I expected that. The rest of the place is beautifully cared for, from the gardens to the interiors. The attached pub and restaurant are excellent, with great food and drinks, a wooden interior and open fireplace. The beer garden is a terrific spot among the gardens, with seating and an outdoor fireplace. A truly one-of-a-kind property.

We stopped in for a drink and a bite and left really content. The back of the hotel is stunning and such a relaxing spot. Cardrona Hotel has a rustic, historic feel, like stepping into another time, but the cosy interior and welcoming staff make it easy to settle in. It works just as well for a casual hangout as a special outing.

The beer was outstanding, among the best we've tried, but the staff's attitude overshadowed the visit. We came as tourists because Cardrona Hotel is so popular and iconic, and had been looking forward to it. When I asked the blue-haired staff member what beer she'd recommend, she curtly replied, “How can I tell you that? It depends on you,” and repeated it after I explained I was asking about the house special. It felt rude and dismissive. Later, while we were enjoying our beers, I found a dead fly in my glass. I politely told another staff member, who said, “So? It’s outdoorsy,” even though we were sitting inside. She didn't apologize or offer to replace it. Only when we asked did she reluctantly agree. Maybe none of it was intentional, but as tourists and people of colour, we felt a bit out of place because of how dismissive the interactions were. It could have been a memorable experience, but the lack of basic courtesy sadly got in the way.
