Lovepreet was the standout for us. He was available almost 24/7 and dealt with any issues straight away, even things that other hotels might not normally attend to. Rajesh was also warm, patient and reassuring when I spoke with him before leaving India, and accommodating throughout. The room fit the three of us easily, with comfortable beds, a small sofa, dining table, spacious kitchen and clean bathroom. It had a heater, wardrobe and hangers, clean towels, hand and body wash, and plenty of spare toilet paper. Hot and cold water were available around the clock. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a fridge, microwave, toaster, stove, kettle, cookware, utensils, scissors, cutting board, dish soap and scrubbers. There were lined bins in the kitchen and bathroom. The room was cleaned every three days, and paid washing machine and dryer facilities were available whenever needed. For South Indian vegetarian parents settling their child into higher studies for a month, it covered just about everything we needed. On foot, the metro stop is a minute away, a convenience store takes 10 minutes, Woolworths 15, the University 20 and the Indian store 25. Each is at most a 10-minute Uber ride. I can't compare Belle Bonne Motel with other places in NZ, so this is an absolute assessment: based on our experience, service and value, I'd give it 9.5/10. I understand it was recently taken over and much of it overhauled. A few things could make it better: airport pickup for newcomers, a sturdy drying rack on request for longer stays, a large bin on the property, a bench by reception for people waiting for a cab, and a motion-sensing light around the parking lot.

Belle Bonne Motel felt peaceful after a day out, though it was still close enough to the city to be convenient. The rooms were spacious and kept in good shape, and the staff were warm and made sure we had what we needed. The recent renovations have left everything feeling fresh and thoughtfully arranged for comfort. It worked well for our family, and seems suited to both short trips and longer stays. A lovely Christchurch find with friendly service and good value. Highly recommend.

I arrived at the scheduled check-in time for my fully paid, confirmed reservation on 18 February 2026, only to be told the motel was full and couldn't honor it. Nobody had emailed or called to warn me beforehand. A booking confirmation should mean a room is secured. Being turned away and left without accommodation is unacceptable, and raises serious doubts about the property's booking management, reliability and accountability. It also makes me wonder whether reservations are actually held when demand rises. Travelers should know that even a confirmed booking here may not result in a stay.

The staff were happy to move us from a single bed room to one with two beds when we asked. The room was comfortable, and it made for a really nice stop in Christchurch after our flight. I'd stay again.

It wasn't the extra $8 itself that bothered me, but the whole thing felt off. Booking showed $89, though a technical problem stopped me from booking there, so I called. They quoted $90. At the property, he entered $98 on the eftpos machine, then told me that was the lowest possible price when I asked. That didn't seem right when Booking had shown less and I was booking directly. I wouldn't recommend the place because of that uneasy feeling.
