Rucksacker Backpacker Hostel

This hostel really felt like a home away from home. I had the best time and met wonderful people from all over the world. The place is cozy and homely, with a nice garden for relaxing or having a BBQ, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It has everything a backpacker needs: a well-equipped kitchen, laundry, free wifi, and a noticeboard for jobs and car sales. I hope to come back one day!

The staff are mostly friendly, but this is only OK for a couple of nights. There are too many rules, the Wi-Fi is limited each day, and the shared rooms get too hot. My private room was too cold, so we had to use our own sleeping bags. It costs less than other places, but I don't think the savings are worth it.

The staff were great, efficient, helpful, and patient. The hostel is a few minutes' walk from Hagley Park and a bus stop for the airport, and not far from the city centre and Botanical Garden. There's a nice backyard and a useful kitchen. It's clean if people are respectful. For improvements, some rooms need better ventilation, and some old mattresses should be replaced because you can feel the springs in your back. It'd be nice to have basic welcome supplies like tea, sugar, and coffee, and the garden could reach its potential with more work. High five!

A cozy hostel with spacious, comfortable rooms and facilities that are cleaned daily. The kitchen has plenty of equipment, including several stoves and an oven. The garden is a nice spot to hang out when it's sunny.
