Alexis Motor Lodge

I've booked three stays here over the past year for different occasions, and each time has gone well. The motel is older, but it's kept up well and very clean. Everything needed is in the rooms, making the stay easy and comfortable, and it's good value. The owners are welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. I'll be back.

The central position of Alexis was a real highlight, with town, cafes, the university, and more all close by. I arrived on the second day with the new owners, who were still settling in, but the service was exceptional. My room was spotless and well maintained. As an older guest, I had some concerns about the bath spa and shower arrangement and the steep driveway. If I'd booked directly, I might have reconsidered those things, but the stay had been arranged through a service.

We were surprised that the hot water ran out after the first person had a proper bath. It was a two-bedroom spa unit meant for four, and nobody had told us the supply was limited. On the first night, the first person showered and used the spa bath with plenty of hot water. When the second person went to shower shortly after, there was none left. I called the property manager and was told we'd used too much and had to wait until morning for it to heat again. Not being able to have a warm shower on a cold winter night was unpleasant, and we were genuinely disappointed. It affected how we felt about the stay overall.

A clean, comfortable motel in a central spot for the hospital and cafes. Just be aware the driveway is steep.
