I needed somewhere I could drive from, and the free parking made this a great fit. It’s a little outside the town centre, but getting around the city by car was easy, and I doubt you’d find the same free parking much closer in. The private room was good value, with locks on both my room door and the front door. The kitchen and shared space were very clean, and Tina was friendly and happy to answer questions.

The hostess was lovely and welcoming, and the place felt peaceful despite being close to the city. It’s also easy to get out to beaches and national parks. The Art Deco hostel was spotless and stylish, with a comfortable bed, a strong shower, a well-equipped kitchen, and parking off the street.

We’d come back if we needed somewhere to stay in Auckland again. It was easy to find and handy for amenities, about 20 minutes from the city. My wife and I stayed for three nights, and Tina made both the booking and arrival pleasant. She’s created a cosy lounge where you can relax by a warm fire. The bedrooms have large, tastefully arranged beds, and the top floors look out across Auckland. It was a treat to stay here.
