We loved the quiet woodland setting and the birdsong all around the lodge. There’s a gate straight from the property onto the walking tracks, so before dinner we headed up the hill and wandered down through the woods behind the village. The view from our bedroom and deck was lovely, across the garden and village to the mountains. The lodge sits on the hillside, but the village is only a one minute drive away. We enjoy walking, so the uphill walk back after the hosts’ recommended village dinner was a nice way to walk it off. Our room was beautifully furnished and so comfortable, and we felt like guests in a lovely home. Jill and Dave welcomed us so warmly. We had breakfast on our private deck before leaving, on the last night of our New Zealand holiday. If we’d realised how nice 8 on Oregon was, we would have planned a longer stay. It was a perfect end to our trip.

Jill and Dave made us feel so welcome, and we loved chatting with them. There were homemade cookies in the lounge, too. The district’s history is worked into each room, which we really liked. It all has a peaceful, alpine resort feel, with a gorgeous view and a delightful garden. We had such a great stay, we’d come back in a heartbeat.

A lovely alternative to hotels and motels, and very good value. The rooms are tastefully done, top class, and set in a stunning location. Jill and Dave were wonderful hosts and clearly cared about how we enjoyed our stay. We’ll definitely stay again next time we’re in Hanmer Springs.

The mountain views are beautiful, and there’s lots of bird life with the forest and walking trails nearby. Cafes and restaurants are an easy walk away. Jill and Dave were very welcoming, and the room and guest lounge were tastefully decorated. Thoughtful details and a generous continental breakfast made it a comfortable, relaxing stay. Everything about our recent time at 8 on Oregon was great.

Magnificent views, a lush bathroom and a king-size bed that was really comfy. The host was awesome and let us check in early. Such an amazing place, highly recommend 😍
