We did sleep well, and the mattress was comfortable. If you’ve been tenting for a week, you might find the place pretty nice. It’s a shame, because the lodge could be charming. The Alpine Lodge isn’t really a 4 Star accommodation, that rating seems self-appointed. It was built in 1984, and most things seem original and minimally made. The kitchen has very cheap utensils. The bathroom and kitchen sinks have separate hot and cold taps, something I haven’t seen in decades. The bedspread was probably clean, but it looked dirty. The bed should have had modern triple sheeting, but I guess that costs more.

Great location, handy for the pools. Our room felt tired, smelled damp and had a few signs of mould. The walls were paper thin, so a quiet stay depends a bit on getting quiet neighbours 😉. It would be good to have bike storage, since this is a large property and Hanmer is the place to bring bikes, the tracks are fantastic.

The room was warm and clean, though a bit dated for 2025. The kitchen drawers were a bit of a health hazard and need attention. The location was lovely and worked perfectly for a quick visit.

After a long day, our group of eight arrived exhausted, and the fantastic service made sure all our needs were taken care of. The rooms were really comfortable, and the location was super convenient. We'll definitely be back!

The room was exceptionally clean and nicely presented, and our hosts made our three-day stay feel as wonderful as they were, along with their staff. We got such an awesome welcome from the New Zealand owners at this totally fabulous place. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.
