Central Cottages

I’m staying in “Fantail,” and it’s clean and roomy, with a nice deck. The living room is a good place to relax, and the kitchen is pretty good for making a meal. Melanie and Ian, the owners and hosts, are warm and welcoming. Central Cottages feels like a little slice of paradise. I’ll definitely come back.

The gardens are beautiful, and the host was lovely. My unit was quiet, comfortable and spacious, with a bedroom, a dining and sitting area, air conditioning, and TVs in both rooms. There’s also a small kitchen with everything needed, and the bed was very comfortable. It’s close to everything and makes a good base for visiting the far north. AAA++++

We spent hours relaxing on the verandah, looking out over the garden. The Lighthouse at Driftwood Central was a wonderful surprise after booking online with some doubts. It’s well suited to a couple, with a large room, a functional kitchen and a lovely outlook. The tropical-style gardens were a pleasure to walk through, with flowers, birds and plenty of quiet. After three weeks of travel and visiting relatives, we slept for 11 hours on our first night. There was no road noise, and even the birds were quiet in the morning. The weather was fantastic, and rain on our last morning made it easier to leave. We had a delightful six days there last month and would thoroughly recommend it.

Melanie welcomed us and made us feel right at home. The grounds are secluded and very well maintained. A fantastic place, and I’ll return whenever I’m back in NZ.
