Silverstream Lodge

Breakfast was a highlight each morning, fresh and delicious, made with care, and a lovely start to a busy workday. I spent a week at Silverstream Lodge on a business trip, and Kathy and Grant made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. They're warm, welcoming hosts who clearly care about their guests. The room was spotless and very comfortable, with lovely high-end finishes and thoughtful details. It felt more like a boutique hotel than a lodge. Silverstream Lodge is a peaceful, elegant place with outstanding hospitality. I'll definitely be back.

Kathy was so sweet and kind, and made our stay extra special. The homemade breakfast was amazing, with everything fresh, and coffee, tea, and freshly baked ginger crisps were waiting in the room. We enjoyed sitting and relaxing on the patio and walking around the lovely grounds to stretch our legs. The whole place was very clean and beautifully decorated, in a quiet, beautiful countryside setting. It's only a half-hour drive to Christchurch airport, so it was perfect for our last night in New Zealand before departing. We couldn't recommend it more. I'm so glad we chose to end our trip here.

The location has a good balance: it's close to shopping and attractions, yet still feels private and rural. The property itself is gorgeous, blending an English garden with New Zealand's natural landscape. Kathy, Grant, and Gretel are such warm, welcoming hosts that you almost forget you're away from home, especially while relaxing over a delicious breakfast. Highly recommend!

i got a normal amount of rest during my stay and had a pretty normal experience. i'm more of a glass half kind of person, and to me it's always half. it feels too opinionated to give this two or three stars, so i'm posting the review twice, once with each rating.
