The location and plentiful, safe parking worked really well, especially for a night before a flight or a business trip. My room faced the motorway, so traffic hum started quite early. The room itself was very nice, with a great shower, and the pork belly from room service was excellent. Breakfast was okay, just typical hotel fare. In hindsight, I would've stuck with the cold options and toast.

The hotel information said there was no pool, but that a fitness centre was just across the road. My boys wanted to use it, and reception told them it had moved and was now a 15-20 minute walk away. Parking was another problem: it cost extra, the lot was very small, and overnight some cars were left in the road leading to the hotel. Breakfast was underwhelming. The coffee machine wasn't working properly, hot food kept running out, and the cheese board had only a few crumbs of blue cheese and wasn't replenished. There were no juice glasses, and one young girl seemed to be trying to clean up and handle everything alone. Most of the receptionists didn't smile or say hello. The young man who checked me out and took my payment was the only one who did. We booked for two adults and two children, but there wasn't a room for all of us, so we had to pay for two. I requested connecting rooms and assumed that was sorted since I never got an email saying otherwise. At check-in, though, one room was on the sixth floor and the other on the third. After I pointed out my request, I was told the hotel had no connecting rooms. We were eventually given two rooms on the third floor, still some distance apart, so I had to split the children between me and my oldest son. It could work for an overnight stop near the airport, but little else made the stay worthwhile. I used points towards the cost. Without them, the two rooms would've been over $600, and it definitely wasn't worth that.

We celebrated our anniversary in the hotel's restaurant and slept well in a comfortable bed. The room was well appointed too. We arrived back from Australia that day and had a really enjoyable stay in mid February 2026. It's about a five-minute drive from the airport, and membership brings extra benefits. Signing up was easy. Cheers.

The staff were polite, the bed was comfortable, and the location was excellent, close to shops and central to most places. There was onsite parking too. Still, I left very dissatisfied after eight nights at The Sebel in Manukau. I paid extra for a larger room with a kitchenette and expected a higher level of comfort and cleanliness for the added cost. Housekeeping was inconsistent: even with the “make up room” sign on the door, the room wasn't cleaned daily. Most days I had to call reception myself to ask for service, which was inconvenient and disappointing. Partway through the stay I started getting multiple bed bug bites, and new ones kept appearing every day. I checked the bed but didn't see anything obvious. The bites and the pattern were concerning, and they affected my comfort and wellbeing. With those issues alongside the housekeeping problems and premium room price, I can't recommend the hotel. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the problems so future guests don't have the same experience.

Our plans changed at the last minute, so we needed to switch hotels. The Sebel Auckland Manukau made the change easy and seamless, instead of letting it become stressful. Everyone was welcoming and lovely, from the bar staff and front desk to housekeeping, and they really catered to what we needed. The rooms were beautiful and spotless, better than I'd expected. I was so happy with the stay and only wish we could've stayed longer. If I'm back in Auckland, The Sebel will be my first choice.
