I didn’t stay at the motel myself, but wedding guests of ours did, and we heard nothing but good things about the accommodation. This is about the customer service. I booked two nights for someone else. When we arrived at the Claremont to check the booking, we were told there was no reservation. We found a room for our guests that day, but we were still charged for the two nights I’d booked, so the same guests were charged twice. When we went to sort it out with the owner, Deb, she said she hadn’t checked Wednesday’s bookings because the guests arrived Thursday instead of the previous day. We asked about the booking system and the mistake that meant we’d paid unnecessarily for another room. She kept interrupting, raising her voice, and arguing with us. She said she felt we were blaming her. We know mistakes happen, but in this case it was hers, and instead of handling it professionally she was rude and called us names. We eventually got a refund. Deb seemed concerned about a bad review, which left us with the impression that we might not get our money back if we wrote one. To me, she took the booking problem as a personal attack instead of resolving an error on her part. It was probably the worst customer service I’ve experienced in a long time.

The apartment had everything we needed and was clean. We stayed two nights for my birthday, and the service was so friendly and welcoming. We also loved the owner's dogs. We’ll be back.

The Claremont worked well for our girls’ road trip. We’d looked at options in all four towns and hoped to find somewhere in Martinborough because it’s so nice. It’s family-run, friendly, clean, and comfortable. Our unit had a studio lounge and another bed on the mezzanine, plus air-con and a fan for the summer heat. The kitchen was very nice, and there was a table with four chairs. There’s also a small area for children to run around and a gravelly petanque area. I’d happily stay again if I were in the area, and recommend it.

We were glad we could bring our little dog along. The rooms were great, with plenty of space inside and out, and everything was very clean and tidy. Staff were helpful and communicated well. It’s an easy trip to the main square and a short walk to the wineries. We’ll definitely be back!

We really enjoyed the deck and lawn, and it was a bonus that the place is pet friendly. The apartment was peaceful, with very comfortable beds and modern kitchen, bathroom, and lounge areas. Air-con helped on the hot days, and the wifi worked well throughout.
