The dinner was delicious and well priced, and breakfast was really yummy too. Our hostess was so friendly and accommodating. It’s a quiet, beautiful place, and both the bedroom and lounge were very comfortable.

The views were wonderful, and it’s right next door to the Kauri Museum. We loved the peaceful location, and our hosts were so nice. They’re great cooks too, the food was lovely. We had a great stay.

I wish my stay at Matakohe House had been longer. The hosts are such warm, friendly people, and I loved the meals, beautifully cooked with the freshest food I’ve had in N.Z for many years. My time there was far too short, so I’m looking forward to coming back and spending a week. There’s so much to enjoy, from the front views to the rooms, dining area, and outdoor dining space. I’d say stay at least 3-6 nights to explore the local area.

The host was kind and the welcome warm, and everything was clean. It’s well placed for exploring the region north of Auckland. The nearby Kauri museum is a must, and so are the Kauri forests.

The rooms at Matakohe House are beautiful, with amazing views, and the food is freshly cooked on site. Jackie and Daniel really go the extra mile for guests, and nothing seems too difficult for them. The rooms are wheelchair friendly too.
