There are lovely beaches nearby, and this beautiful accommodation is about a 20-minute drive north of Whitianga. The driveway up to the chalets is long, though easy enough to drive along.

We booked Cuvier chalet months ahead because it offered Wi-Fi, phone reception and better views than Bush. The week we were due to arrive, we were told that Cuvier had been unavailable for a year because the hosts were living there. Our booking was for the 28th, and we only found out on the 24th of December. We were moved to lower-grade accommodation, charged the same rate, and had no chance to find somewhere else at that late notice. Then they claimed the facilities listed clearly in the booking weren't there. What shady people!
