Hunters Moon

The farmstay was peaceful, very clean, and well cared for, with a spotless, comfortable room that worked well for our family. John made the booking and communication easy from the start, even while he was away. André was onsite when we arrived, welcomed us warmly, and made sure we had what we needed. Thanks to both of them for a lovely stay. We’d definitely come back.

I had a great time feeding the sheep and alpacas. They were adorable, and one alpaca even sneezed on me for my first ever alpaca sneeze! There was also a chicken that seemed to think it was a sheep, which made things even more fun. John was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were really clean. Thanks for the lovely stay, we’d love to return.

Even though we only stayed one night, John made us feel very welcome, and his warmth really made the visit worthwhile. He told us more about the friendly sheep and alpacas, and I loved getting to feed them. The rooms and toilets were very clean and well maintained, and I was comfortable and happy throughout our stay at Hunters Moon. John is a fantastic host and had things ready for every eventuality. We were there during the oct 25 storm, when much of the South Island lost power. Hunters Moon had solar power, batteries and a diesel generator, and the Wifi kept working the whole time. It’s a wonderful retreat. If we return to NZ, we know where we’ll stay.
