The location was fantastic, but our stay was let down by a few things. There was no hot water for a shower, the TV wasn’t working properly, and someone had taken our assigned parking spot. Those problems kind of ruined it for us. We won’t be back.

We paid for our stay by card after StudyLink’s payment, intended to cover us as students, went to the previous owners. The current owner wouldn’t provide their contact details so we could follow up about getting the double payment reimbursed. That was a very negative experience, especially alongside his communication with us. Our two rooms were numbered 23 and 24, but they weren’t next to each other. A supply room and two stairwells were between them. I’d also asked for a cot for our child and never got a response. The worst part was his repeated comments based on his past experiences with MSD clients, treating StudyLink and MSD clients as the same sort of people.

We had a great room across the water, looking straight over at the Napier Sailing Club, where we were attending a reception. It was an easy walk to local cafes and pubs. We’d stay again.

Noise comes through the walls from above and next door, and there were stains on the shower ceiling. The room felt a bit dated. It wasn’t the best, but wasn’t the worst either.
