We were traveling on a budget and picked the cheapest place we could find, but the value really surprised us. The accommodation was roomy, comfortable, clean, and quiet, with great attention to detail. Easy to get to as well, and well placed for exploring Nelson. We highly recommend Driftwood Motels as a great place to stay 😊

The room was basic but had the essentials, and the location was great. We stayed 8 nights and only got one clean, which felt rough when we paid the same nightly rate as people staying just one night. Every shower turned the bathroom into a paddling pool. A unit two doors down had a fire alarm going from midnight until 9am. Reception was called, but apparently fire wasn't urgent. At least the alarms definitely work. Just don't expect anyone to come and check what set one off.

The location near the beach was the one plus. Otherwise it was a horrible stay. There was a used, dirty nappy from the previous guests in the bathroom bin, and a bag we left in the kitchen was crawling with bugs when we came back to it. It really seemed like the cleaners weren't doing their jobs.

A great, affordable place to stay. The owners and I barely had to interact, which worked well since the place was well stocked and well run. I'd stay again.
