Bks Egmont Motor Lodge

This was our second stay at the motel, and it was a real disappointment. The room smelled strongly of must, the bathroom tap was broken, the toilet kept running, and the Wi-Fi was so poor it couldn’t even load photos. Construction and ground work started right outside our room at 7 a.m. on the second day, which was very disruptive. When we told the owner about the problems, she acted unaware and responded rudely. The room and service cost far too much for what we got. We won’t come back.

We’d booked and paid for two nights a month ahead, but at first they said we hadn’t paid. I had to show their emails, where they’d said it wasn’t on their system and that it would be paid for. We’d also booked an accessible studio with a walk-in shower. When we got the key, the room had a spa bath instead, so I went back to the office. They insisted we’d booked the spa room and asked me to show the emails since it wasn’t on their system. I showed the booking form for the access studio, but was told we couldn’t have it because it was occupied. They only had one, and the guests had been there nine nights, so they wouldn’t make them leave. I asked what they planned to do, since they’d booked it out. They gave us a room for one night, but said we had to be out by 9 a.m. We had a wedding at 12:30 p.m. and needed somewhere to get ready. They told us to be ready by 9 and spend time in the city, or take our things and change at the venue. I said I wasn’t leaving until we had somewhere else to go. Then they said they thought the people in our room were leaving the next day, and they could clean it for us. When I asked if that was definite, I was told, “I think so.” At 9 the next morning, they said those guests had gone and we should move. The room smelled stuffy, and I doubt it had been cleaned properly. I’ve usually found BK Motor Inns very good, so this one really let the side down. I’m disgusted that I had to prove everything with my emails. I’ll never return or recommend this place. I’ll be telling people the opposite: don’t stay here.

We stayed for about a week while waiting for our new home, and had a five-out-of-five experience. The room was spacious and clean, with a great kitchenette and a big bathroom. The motel was quiet and handily located for the city. The owner was lovely to deal with and very accommodating. I highly recommend it!

It was clean and lovely, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The park was well located for us.
