The Dome House

I’ve never written a review like this, but honesty matters, and in my opinion the Dome won’t suit everyone. The reviews were very misleading. The description of the neighbourhood seems to describe Waiheke, which is lovely, but the dome is in a neighbourhood away from that island ambience. The house felt dark and cold, with few windows and sparse furnishings. The floors are angled concrete, which made walking uncomfortable. What was described as two bedrooms was really a room reached through the first bedroom, so there’s no privacy. There were no beach accessories or towels. The beach is two blocks downhill, then two blocks uphill on the way back. We were told there was a water shortage and asked to take short showers and bring drinking water. I was shocked that no bottles were offered. We were also told the outdoor patio would be cleaned after we arrived, but that never happened. The couple staying for the second half of our time arrived to find their apartment hadn't been made up at all.

My parents stayed in this beautiful house for our wedding on Waiheke in late February. It really felt like Greece! The owners were wonderful to deal with, so accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure my parents were comfortable and happy. I really appreciate it. Thank you so much!

It felt like being in Santorini. The house is in a quiet part of Waiheke, with no noise from nearby houses or the road, and it has a great location close to shops and the beach. There are lots of board games for kids and a lovely outdoor space for entertaining. Free wifi is handy for travelers, or anyone doing business who wants to get away from Auckland for a few days. The gates lock securely, so nobody else can get into the house or driveway.

We love this place for our Waiheke holidays. It's got great character and all the amenities, with the beach, shops, cafes and neat places to eat nearby. An awesome place for a getaway. We'll definitely be back to the dome house.
