Bounty Motel

Our first time in Paihia, Bay of Islands, and we only booked a few days before arriving in peak season. We were welcomed so warmly. Waira, if I’ve got her name right, took great care of our booking and found a special, safe parking spot for our 6m boat, even though they were fully booked. The rooms were neat and ready for us, and we were allowed to use the BBQ area. We enjoyed sundowners on the grassy patch while cooking. The hosts were extremely friendly, and we’re grateful they had us. We’ll definitely be back next year!

We spent 10 nights at Bounty Motel and wouldn’t have changed a thing. It’s a great value place to stay, with the main centre’s shops, bars and restaurants just a 5 minute walk away. Our room was clean and tidy, with daily servicing and cooking facilities, plus a BBQ available. Parking was there too, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Bounty Motel.

Bounty Hotel is clean, comfortable, and affordable, and the location is so handy, just a short walk to cafes, restaurants, shops, the P.O., takeaway places, the chemist, and more. Sarah and another woman at reception gave us great service. I’d definitely stay again, and I’ve already told friends and family. Thank you!

The unit was a good size for a couple travelling with a baby, and the staff were really welcoming. It’s also within walking distance of Paihia’s restaurants and cafes, the ferry, and the beach. But the aircon unit in our room didn’t work. It got up to 29 degrees, and the little fan provided only pushed the hot air around. If you’re travelling with small kids, keep that in mind. There was also a strange, loud gurgling from the sink at random times during the night, as if it wasn’t draining properly, which isn’t great with a baby asleep in the room. And the toilet roll holder was loose and crooked, so the roll kept sliding off. Such a small thing, but really annoying and an easy fix.
