We had a great stay in the two-bedroom sea-view place, with plenty of space for me and my family. The water view was amazing, and there's a petrol station, dairy and cafe right next door, with great restaurants just a two-minute drive around the corner. When we asked at the last minute to add a night, they were very kind and accommodating, giving us another room that was clean and tidy. I highly recommend it, and we'll be back 1000%.

The location is fantastic, directly across from the beach, but the apartments sit on the driveway side, so there's no beach view unless you step outside. The website photos show only a couple of the front units, and I think the hotel should show all room types to give a better idea of what it offers. Inside, the apartment was clean and had the essentials, but it felt basic and ordinary. It was clear these were older units with only minimal renovation. Dark furnishings and carpets made the place feel dreary. The small bedroom had no fly screens or air conditioning and got stuffy, and there were no power outlets near the bed. The apartment felt uninviting and rather depressing.

The location is great, but the photos don't show the condition of the rooms. There was hair all through our apartment, so it clearly hadn't been vacuumed before we arrived. Even allowing for it being over NYE, we paid a fortune and I was absolutely shocked by the state of the place. I've never spent so much on such below-average accommodation.

The rooms were clean and well maintained, with plenty of parking. The sea-facing apartments are a short walk from Paihia town center and the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Great value and an excellent location.

I've been to Paihia many times but hadn't stayed at Sea Spray before, and I liked it a lot. For a beachfront stay, the end two-bedroom suites are the ones to choose. They have wonderful balconies overlooking the shore and islands.
