BKs Premier Motel Palmerston North

Finding somewhere at short notice in the busy Christmas period was a scramble, and BKs Motel in Palmerston North turned out to be a welcome oasis. The location worked well, with Palmy's CBD a short walk away, even quicker by car, and cafés and shops in between. Rob and Fluer greeted me with warm smiles and a friendly hello, then went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. My room was modern and very clean, and I was lucky to get one with a spacious, luxurious spa. It made the room feel complete. From arrival to the end of my stay, the experience was wonderful. Great quality for a fair price, and I'd highly recommend it. 10/10 👍

Being near the centre of Palmerston North made it easy to get to supermarkets, and our ground-floor disability unit had convenient access to the car park. The room was adequate, though the beds left us with sore backs in the morning. In the spare room, you could feel the springs in the old innerspring mattresses, and the mattress provided seemed too large for its base. We used Palmerston North as a base for two nights and took a day trip to Wellington. We hadn't realised the motel was across the road from the local speedway, which had a meet last Saturday. There were noisy hoons at all hours that first night, though the second was much quieter. The older property also wasn't very soundproof, so we heard every car leaving the adjacent car park. There were no charging ports.

It was easy to find and so close to the city, which was great. Check-in went smoothly, and the staff were lovely, friendly, and personable. Our room had a spa bath, good amenities, plenty of space, and a very comfortable bed. I'll book with them again if I come back to Palmy.

We stayed about four weeks ago and had to fetch our own towels and toilet paper because none were provided. I might have let that go, but I also left an expensive personal item and a charger behind. I know that part was my fault. When I called, someone found the item, and I appreciated that. I followed the instructions and sent a bag with my details. For three weeks I've struggled to reach someone I could communicate with. I was hung up on, promised a call back that never came, and called twice a day on most of those days. Today I was told they don't have it and never did. They said calls were recorded, but when I asked to speak again with the person who said they'd found it, they refused. I've accepted that I'll have to replace the item, and I don't think they'll send my charger either. Please avoid this place. They were very hard to reach and speak with, and when I finally got through, the person was extremely rude and brushed me off again. For a low-end, overpriced motel, I wouldn't have expected this to drag on for three weeks.
