Grand Mercure Puka Park Resort

Heather helped make our 50th wedding anniversary special and went above and beyond. Ben and Simon were wonderful too, and the staff really made the week for us. We had a beautiful view from our bungalow and enjoyed the food. The setting was peaceful and quiet, just what we wanted, though there were plenty of other people partying as well. It was an amazing week.

We spent two days here with friends. The main building sits among the trees, and the lounge with its open fire was a lovely place to relax in the quiet. There’s also a spacious outdoor deck and a great bar. We made use of the pool, hot tub, sauna and table tennis, and could walk or drive around to explore Pauanui. Fantastic stay.

Simon and Dani were so warm and caring, and went well beyond what their jobs called for. We loved the resort and its beautiful setting so much that we changed our plans to add another night. We booked on a whim, and this ended up being a highlight of our trip. I’d definitely come back on my next visit to New Zealand.

The team were friendly and accommodating, and the service was excellent. The restaurant food tasted fine, but the menu was very limited and basic. We also had ants in the room, including some crawling into our daughter’s cot. The property felt dated and could use an update. Only having two umbrellas at the pool meant there wasn’t enough shade for our family to sit there. Still, we had a lovely stay at Puka Park. I can really recommend cabana in town.
