Jasmine Court Motel

After a long day of travel, the comfy bed, warm shower and easy check-in were just what my partner and I needed. We’d booked for one night after severe weather caused last-minute changes to our plans. The staff were friendly and made our late arrival easy. It’s within walking distance of the township, and we’d gladly stay again. 😊

After a long flight, I stayed here before heading out for a Queen Charlotte hike. The room was clean and quiet, with a good shower, and the service was friendly and accommodating. There’s a large grocery store across the street, plus several restaurants and museums an easy walk away. I’d stay again.

We were in a front room on the ground floor, and the sound from upstairs was awful. The insulation between floors is a major design flaw. The people above us were just going about their normal business, not yelling or being rowdy, but every step and chair movement carried into our room. We could follow their movements by the footsteps and even tell when they’d gone to bed. Management can’t easily fix something like that. I’d recommend the hotel, but only a single-storey room or one upstairs. The rooms are a good size and clean, the staff are helpful, and the location is very good. It’s a short walk to harbour cafes and pubs, with the shopping centre across the street.

We paid extra for in-room laundry halfway through our trip, and it was worth it. The dryer takes a while, but not unreasonably long. While waiting between loads, there were plenty of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. We stayed here with my wife the night before taking the ferry to the North Island. It was very close to the terminal and a relaxing way to wrap up our South Island tour, so we could feel refreshed for the rest of the trip.
