Artica Art Accommodation

Kirsten helped us find places to eat around Port Chalmers, and the breakfast was plentiful, tasty, healthy, and very European. We were in town for two nights for the Elton John concert in Dunedin and absolutely loved the place. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed, from tea and coffee to a toaster, bar fridge, jug, and wine glasses. The bathroom was huge, and I loved the owner's artwork around the room, which she has for sale. We'll stay here again.

My apartment in this lovely villa felt like a comfortable, stylish home away from home, with host and artist Kirsten's artworks throughout. Artica is in Port Chalmers and has a great view of the bush-covered hills. The welcome was warm, and the place has a relaxing feel. When leaving, it's easy to drive north over the hill onto Blueskin Road and join SH1 at Waitati, avoiding the trip back through the city and motorway traffic. A unique find, and my new favourite when I visit Dunedin.

I booked a place for my daughter and me to see Pink, then realised I'd chosen the wrong dates. I tried to rebook on the night of the concert, but there were no rooms available, so I emailed the business to cancel. They took $134.10 from my bank account. When I spoke with the owner this evening, she insisted she wouldn't refund it. I know mistakes happen, but based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend staying here. It feels like theft to me.

The room had a microwave, a full set of dishes, and a mini fridge. It's comfortable accommodation in a beautifully appointed historic home, with easy access to the lovely town of Port Chalmers.
