Caples Court

The view was great, but we found bed bugs and it spoiled the stay. To his credit, the manager moved us to another room that seemed free of them. We got a partial refund, but still paid far too much for the room. Blue peaks next door looks much cleaner and newer, so I'd suggest looking there.

The studio was good value and had what we needed for five nights. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom fan kept steam under control. Caples Court is also an easy walk into town. We did notice spider webs high on the walls and ceiling, though. Parking was the main drawback. The spaces are narrow, and a larger vehicle is hard to manoeuvre. If the middle space by the laundry is occupied, getting luggage to and from the basement studio is awkward. Turning right from the steep driveway onto Stanley St was also difficult, especially with cars parked along the road because visibility is poor. We’d give the room a 4 and the parking a 2, so our overall score comes to 3.

Unit 11 was clean, quiet, comfortable and private, with shops and public transport within walking distance. It was perfectly adequate, though not luxurious. The position under the main part of the building may feel a bit claustrophobic to some: both the entrance and the window look onto the underground carpark.

We found a car park and were only a short walk from town. Booking was easy, and arriving after hours was straightforward. The apartment was clean and tidy, with a great shower and a compact kitchen that suited our short stay. The two-single-bed room is very small, so it may feel cramped if you aren't comfortable sharing close quarters. There's not much room for luggage in there either, and using the living room to pack or unpack worked better. Sound carries, which didn't bother me, but coming in early in the morning could disturb people who are asleep. These are things to keep in mind, not reasons I'd rule it out. I'd definitely stay again.
