Heartland Hotel Queenstown

It's easy to get around on foot from here, and far enough from everything that it stays quiet. Reception were friendly and check-in was simple. I liked the room, especially the cute little balcony, bright bathroom, comfortable bed, and good heating. Parking was adequate. The laundry was a bit pricey, though that's what I'd expect at a hotel. I'd definitely stay again.

The room was spacious, with a long bench that was great for spreading out all our luggage. We also had a nice balcony tucked out of sight from the main reception, and the bed was comfortable. It stayed quiet through the night despite being close to reception. The bathroom had plenty of room, but the shower curtain stopped above the floor and let water escape, and the shower pressure could have been stronger. Check-in was quick and easy, and the friendly staff let us in a little early. Town is only minutes away, which is very convenient. We stayed for our last night in Queenstown. It's on a hilltop, so keep that in mind with luggage. There's parking, but I'd check in early to get a spot. I'd stay here again!

We could walk easily to attractions around Queenstown, and getting there by car via Melbourne road was easy too. Our three-person room wasn't ready at the 1:45pm check-in time; when we arrived at 2:00, we were told to wait. We had a car, so we could go do our planned activities, but that would be tough for guests with activity bookings and no car. The map we got at check-in was confusing and badly formatted, with no directions. We were told the room was in the car park, and eventually found it. It was very spacious, with space for four though we were three, and had a good view of the lake and downtown/CBD. But you can't get inside from the back patio unless someone lets you in. The supposed double bed was two singles under one double-sized sheet. The curtains had mildew and stains. They gave us two key cards each, which worked very well. Continental breakfast was about what you'd expect from a standard bed and breakfast.

The hotel is showing its age, from the outdated rooms to the mini fridge that might be older than me, and I'm not young anymore. But service was good, the beds were comfortable, water pressure was great, and the location was fantastic with all the services we needed. Breakfast was good too. There was parking, and they let us park before check-in. Laundry service was available, handy for light travelers like us. We lucked into a top-floor corner room, probably one of their best, with an amazing lake view and two balconies.
