Lakefront Apartments

The apartment was clean, quiet and equipped with what I needed to be comfortable. I especially enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, and the modern facilities worked well alongside the natural lakefront setting. Being right by the lake meant waking up to calm water and the surrounding mountains. The views made the stay feel special and like a real escape into nature. It was a delightful visit to the Lakefront Apartment in Queenstown, and I’d happily return and tell friends and family about it. Anyone looking for spectacular lake views and a cosy, welcoming place would find a lot to like here.

We had four different apartments between our group of friends. The views and location were good, with a short walk into town and to the bus stop. But definitely don’t expect a four-star stay. Only one of the four apartments was acceptable; the others were very dated, with cupboards needing repair, a missing door number and patchy paint. Some of the smaller bedrooms at the back had blacked-out windows that couldn’t be opened. Basic things were missing or faulty too. One electric kettle wouldn’t switch itself off, we had to ask for coffee plungers in two apartments, and the hand soap came in recycled body-lotion containers. Cleanliness was lacking, with dirt on doors and rubbish on the balcony. It may work if the price suits the location and views, but don’t expect four stars.

The only real plus was being next to the lake. The stay was disappointing and nowhere near the four-star rating claimed on Agoda. Parking is shared with Lakeside Motel, and when it fills up, you have to park on the street. The staff weren’t friendly, and the room was old, with outdated facilities. One bedroom was very cramped, with a tiny window facing a wall. The single-layer curtains offered no privacy, so people outside could see straight into the room. I’m travelling around the South Island for six nights, and this was the worst place I’ve stayed. It felt no different from a motel and wasn’t worth the rating. Think twice before booking; you’d be better off at a real motel.

The place is roomy and the location and views are great, but the interior feels like an old university share house. The kitchen and decor are dated, and the website photos gave a misleading impression. There was also a faulty bathroom power point that seemed potentially dangerous. I wouldn't recommend it.
