LQ Queenstown by Wyndham

The staff were friendly, and the view from the window was okay. But for the price, I felt it delivered too little. Parking for paying guests was very limited, and they seemed to care more about long-term residents. Next time I’ll stay at the Holiday inn, where they actually serve food for hotel guests. In room 101, the king-sized bed was comfortable, but the bathroom was small and its door got in the way of the toilet. There was just a small stool and table, and I would have preferred a decent chair. The TV only had basic channels. The fridge was frozen, which I discovered the next morning after it had frozen my milk and food. I told the woman at reception, and she said she’d ask housekeeping about it. When I came back later that day, the problem still hadn’t been fixed.

The hotel is new and nice, with a gorgeous mountain backdrop, and the room was large enough for our one-night stay. We chose it because our flight got in late, and it’s about a 25-minute walk from the airport. The bathroom was very small, with almost no room beside the sink for toiletries. Sleep was the real problem. The air conditioner sounded like rushing water, so we had to switch it off. The walls are extremely thin, and we could hear people talking in the corridor, someone snoring next door, and showers and toilets in neighbouring rooms. That made for a terrible night, especially for a light sleeper. We won’t stay here again.

The washing machine and dryer were a welcome surprise and made our road trip easier, since we could have fresh clothes. Our room had everything we needed for three nights around Queenstown, plus great mountain views. The bed was super comfortable and housekeeping made it each morning. Reception is modern, with a convenience store attached, and the receptionist was friendly. They helped when our keycards stopped working after the first night. On-site parking is limited, but there’s a public car park behind the hotel. We had no complaints about La Quinta and had a very pleasant stay.

The room had a handy kitchen and laundry setup, with a washing machine, dryer and dishwasher, which not every hotel offers. The bathroom also had an electric drying rack for handwashed clothes. Sheets and towels were clean, the interior was nice, and the front desk staff were friendly and easy to approach. I loved the close-up view of snow-capped mountains from my bed. The hotel is close to Queenstown airport, restaurants, highways, the library and car rentals. Finding a parking space can be difficult, as the reviews mention, but I managed to get one each day when I returned from my trips. I wasn’t keen on the smell of the shower gel, shampoo and lotion, though some people might like it. I was happy with my stay ☺️
