Nomads Queenstown Backpackers

Location is great, and the staff are nice. The clean room service was a plus. The toilet and bathroom are separate, which is handy when it's busy. The facilities are quite old, though, the bed wasn't very solid, sockets were far from the bed, and the lockers were tiny, with some broken. It was kind of noisy, but my earplugs worked, so that wasn't a problem for me. Could be a good choice if location matters to you.

Parking in town was a huge headache for me. I had to look for free parking more than a 5 minute walk away, so take note if you're driving. The room was spacious, and there's a water dispenser in the lobby. The digital door lock works through an app, and there's no aircon remote: you have to use the app to contact reception to turn it on or off, which is kind of weird. I heard some music from the bar on Saturday night, but not Sunday. The room also had a smoke smell that seemed to come from nowhere.

The kitchen is fairly well equipped, but there's no oven, and the pans have taken a hammering from gap-year guests constantly overcooking pasta. Still, this is a great hostel in the heart of QT, well worth it. Some rooms have balconies, and the private room with a shared balcony might be the cheapest and best room in all of queens town. The beds are really comfortable, with nice duvets and pillows. Rooms are clean and tidy, and plugs are placed around the room. I didn't think I'd enjoy sharing a room with others, but I ended up embracing the thrill. Getting to know up to 9 brand new people is such fun! Luca the manager is great, super knowledgeable about the local area, friendly to talk to and helpful when I first checked in. It made arriving in Queenstown delightful. Rachel’s on reception is fantastic, really welcoming, and speaks Spanish.

Check-out at 11 is very generous, and the staff are friendly. The place gets cleaned very often, and the location is great. Prices are okay, though not great. It's not the best hostel in Queenstown: the kitchen is way too small for everyone, beds aren't great, there's no privacy or power outlets, and usually one of the bathroom drains was blocked.
