For my 40th birthday, my husband, our five and seven year old and I stayed at Paroa Bay chalets just after lockdown. We loved it. The scenery looks over the countryside to the sea, with the winery next door. Russell is close enough, and there are plenty of beaches and walks nearby. The chalets are spacious and comfortable, with everything you might need. The outdoor spa was a great extra. The owners were attentive and helpful, and I couldn't have asked for more.

We spent three nights at Paroa Bay and loved how quiet, clean and relaxing it was. It was our first visit to the Bay of Islands, and we'll definitely come back. The bubbles waiting for us on arrival made us feel at home straight away. Highly recommend for families wanting a break from the city bustle, especially after two covid lockdowns.

It’s close enough to Russell to get there easily, yet the quiet made it feel like we were far away from everything. We spent two nights here with another couple. The chalet was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed, including Wi-Fi, a TV, a kitchen and laundry.
