Our room was lovely, with a beautiful view from the private patio, and the sunsets were amazing too. Donna and Chris made our month-long New Zealand trip feel special, from the moment Donna welcomed us with a hot flannel and iced drink. Breakfast was a friendly time together each morning, and afterwards they shared tips on the best places to visit. There were lots of personal touches, and our holiday ended perfectly with an a la carte meal cooked just for us by a french chef. Sunlover Retreat was a wonderful place to finish our trip, and we'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a superb stay.

The bed was huge and very comfortable, and the shower pressure was just right, which matters a lot to us. Everything we needed was there, including a full kitchen, coffee machine and coffee and hot chocolate pods, an insect repellent candle, dyson fan, hairdryer, and freshly baked biscuits that were so good. There were so many thoughtful details, from the bow on the toilet roll to the Manuka honey toiletries and soft branded robes. We stayed one night at Sunlover Retreat and wished we could've stayed forever. The stunning house is in a perfect spot overlooking Tairua. Donna and Chris were lovely hosts, and Rover the dog gave us the best welcome. They booked us into Manaia, a great local restaurant just a short walk away. The lamb shoulder comes highly recommended, and the pizzas looked delicious too. The hot tub had a lovely view over the other side of town, and the outdoor bubble bath on our balcony was even more of a novelty. My morning soak with coffee was a highlight. The town has beautiful views, friendly locals, and nice places for a beer or Pinot noir. We climbed up to the Paku lookout, a bit of a trek but worth it for the amazing 360-degree view. We can see why bookings go years ahead, and we'll definitely return. Thanks for having us, Donna and Chris, see you soon!

Donna was a generous, thoughtful host who baked fresh bread for breakfast and recommended a delightful French chef to cook our dinner. We'd highly recommend the meal. The view over Tairua bay from our secluded deck was a trip highlight. This was a fabulous stay in a guesthouse of a quality that's hard to find.
