After a long flight and drive, we arrived to be told every room was upstairs. The listing said, “Upper floors accessible by stairs only,” which the owner apparently takes to mean all rooms are upstairs, but that wasn’t what we understood from the advert. My wife is disabled and can’t use stairs, so we had no choice but to cancel and find somewhere else. The owner offered no half refund for the error. She said all the websites advertised the rooms as stair-access only, but that wasn’t the case. We’re out of pocket $400, and she refused to refund us unless we booked again after she advised us to cancel. We wouldn’t recommend this place under any circumstances. The owner needs to correct the advertising. We reported it to Booking.com.

The views were incredible, and breakfast was ready for us and absolutely delicious. We were greeted warmly by two wonderful hosts at bella vue, and the room was even better than expected, with a complimentary cheese board. The interior design and all the little touches were lovely, and it felt like the owners had thought of everything. I could easily have stayed longer. Highly recommend bella vue and its hosts and owners. 10 out of 10.

My husband and I had a lovely stay in May at this beautiful place. The hosts made us feel so welcome and were happy to help with anything. Breakfast and the evening meals were outstanding, though sadly we were too full to try the lovely dessert. We’ll be back, and especially recommend it to couples wanting a special experience.

Liz and Steve were wonderful: kind, informative, professional and efficient. The breakfast was lovely, and both the rooms and guest facilities were perfect. We arrived at sunset and the views were breathtaking. My friends and I stayed just one night, our best bed and breakfast experience ever. Only downside was that we’d booked for just the one night. Thanks so much for a lovely stay.

Liz and Steve made our one-night break so comfortable. They were warm and welcoming and did everything they could for us. The meals were beautiful, and they left a lovely bottle of wine and cheese platter in our room, with beautiful views over Lake Taupo. The house itself is lovely, beautifully maintained and extremely clean. We couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you, Liz and Steve.
