Lakeland Resort Taupo

Mable made our visit to Lakeland much more enjoyable. She welcomed us warmly as soon as we came through the door, was very polite, and told us about the breakfast and dinner offers. Wonderful service from the receptionist, so this five-star review is for her. Thank you, Mable.

The staff were friendly and quick with the service, which was the one bright spot. For the price, this motel is really run down. Worn furniture alone would have earned it three stars, but there was mildew in the shower and it only seemed to have two settings, scalding and incredibly hot. The kettle was burnt out, the bathroom door wouldn't close, and the worst part was finding one bed with sheets that hadn't been changed.

Friendly staff and clean, well-spaced tables in the dining room. I paid $25 for the full brekky, and my friend paid $5 for bottomless push-button coffee from the machine. The bacon was lovely and crunchy, and the hash browns were delicious. They had little sausages too. Gluten-free and dairy-free foods were labeled. The eggs seemed to be made from powder, with hardly any flavour and a very even texture. There were baked beans, though I could barely find the beans, and spaghetti that looked like it came from a tin.

The rooms were clean, and we had excellent, friendly service. Restaurant meals were very good with generous portions, and there's a bar and TV. I'd recommend it to friends and family, and would visit again. Well done.
