Energy Motor Lodge

We stayed here with two young kids, and it was the most disgusting, unhygienic motel we've ever used. The cleaners need to do their job and standards need to improve. Our feet were literally black after walking on the rotten carpet. The room smelled of mildew, and cigarettes had been left everywhere outside. The bedding was NOT clean. There was long black hair in one bed, though I don't have black hair, and the sheets were all crinkled when we opened the beds. The big bed had a brown blood stain and a yellow stain. It looked like old sheets from other guests. This is not on! The motel later said there was no hair or blood on the sheets when we left early, but I clearly have evidence. Pity I only found it at 10pm on New Year's Eve. I've never had to check for clean sheets anywhere before. They hadn't even wiped the bin, a two-second job, and the dishes were dirty and stank. This place shouldn't be allowed to run. I escalated this with booking.com.

The shower had good water pressure, and there were no ants. The room itself, though, was dirty, grimy, or dusty on every surface. I spent an hour cleaning with half a packet of wipes, and many came away black. The interior was dated, tatty, or damaged, and the musty smell remained even with both doors open.

The room was fine for one night and reasonably priced, though a little rough around the edges. We didn't interact with staff. The toaster was full of crumbs, the microwave was dirty, and the bed looked like it had been made in a hurry. A bit lacking in the finer details.

The location was the one bright spot for us. The rooms were pretty average and grubby: our fridge had bits of food stuck all over it, and the shower door had mould that needed proper cleaning products. We booked three rooms, and there were holes in the carpet in No 3. The room beside ours had very shabby furniture, with unusually high bed bases built into wooden casings. A thumbs down.
