Alpine Rock B&B

Jan and Jeff know the area well and have lots of information about things to do nearby and further out. Their home is cosy and welcoming, and Frankie and Eddie are happy to have cuddles if you want them. The pets do stay out of the guest areas, as the rules say. This was my second stay, and I’ll be back as long as they’re open.

The ensuite room was clean and really comfortable, and I got the best rest of our trip here. It’s a peaceful countryside house, just 5mins drive from the Town Center. Jeff made us feel at home.

The shower was the best, with great toiletries, strong hot water, and soft towels and robes that helped wash away the travel fatigue. We also loved hearing the sheep bleat outside the window, it made us smile. Eddie and Frankie were a delight, and the restaurants Jeff recommended were delicious. Jeff and Jan, thank you for making our first visit to New Zealand so special. You felt like parents and friends, and Alpine Rock B&B was an amazing place to stay. When we return to this beautiful land, we’ll come back to see you all again.

Jeff’s breakfasts were delicious: homemade yogurt and fresh croissants each morning, along with fresh fruit, two types of granola, juice and water, tea and coffee, jams and butter. Jan and Jeff met us on arrival and showed us around. They were available for questions, then gave us privacy. They recommended good restaurants, and Jeff even rinsed our rental car after we asked whether there was a car wash in town. That was really going above and beyond. We stayed in the Wisteria room. It has a small fridge with a little freezer that fit two freezer packs. The private bathroom is across the hall, with a separate toilet room and another room with a shower, soaking tub, bath salts and sink. The Rose suite has an ensuite bathroom. The room was exactly as described and extremely clean, with a very comfy bed, softer and harder pillows, an extra blanket and a heated mattress pad for colder weather. Alpine Rock B&B was well placed for Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, Lord of the Rings filming locations, and hiking and walking. We’d highly recommend it.
