Lakefront Lodge

The apartment was handy for lots of Te Anau attractions, and the little kitchenette was useful. From the living room, there was a pretty garden view and a door onto the patio. We didn't have time to use the option of breakfast delivered to our own nook, but liked having it. The lavender in the rooms was a lovely personal touch.

The breakfast setup worked really well: we chose from several options, they dropped it off the evening before, and we ate outside in the area provided for our room before heading out again. After a long day of travel, we were exhausted, so the information at check-in about dining nearby, breakfast, and the room amenities was much appreciated. The room had a kitchenette and an awesome bathroom. We wish we'd had more time here.

Reception was rude and unhelpful. We came back from breakfast before the 10am checkout and found our bags and belongings had been taken out of our rooms, and food from the fridge had been thrown away, all without permission. Cleaners were already inside and wouldn't let us use the bathroom because they'd cleaned it. We hadn't even handed in our keys yet. That invasion of privacy was unacceptable, and I wouldn't recommend this place.

Kim, the receptionist we met, was delightful and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The town is lovely, and the lodge is well placed for walking to the main cafes and shops. Lakefront Lodge was so good we'd stay nowhere else if we came back. We wish we could rate it 10/10. The one-bedroom suite has a separate bathroom and a large bedroom, plus a living room big enough to feel like a small house, with a full-size lounge suite, dining table, and day bed. They'd thought of little things too, like a power board for everyone's devices and a small chocolate on the pillow. We felt very lucky to have booked it.
