Tui Lodge

Tui Lodge is a clean, comfortable, modern B and B, set on a large section with magnificent gardens full of native plants and trees. We love relaxing with a book and looking out over the park-like grounds. The hosts are wonderful, and as members of the local garden club and keen hikers, they can point out nearby trails and peaceful river spots for photography or fly fishing. They can also connect guests with fishing guides. Each room has its own ensuite, and guests have a private living room with a TV. We usually stay for one to three nights when travelling north or south through the North Island, or when we need a break from busy life. Turangi is handy for fishing in nearby rivers or on Lake Taupo, hiking, skiing and other outdoor activities in Tongariro National Park, and the area suits our love of photography. The street feels very safe and quiet, while restaurants and bars in the town centre are close by. We’ll keep breaking our itinerary at this lovely place.

Ian and Francie were lovely hosts and told us about their wonderful garden. The grounds were lovely, the place was spotless, and the linen was lovely. Breakfast was superb, and the home-baked shortbread was a real bonus. Relaxed and friendly.

Ian and Francee were very hospitable, and the spacious grounds with native trees and abundant bird life made a lovely setting. The lodge was beautifully presented and top end, and our stay was comfortable and relaxing. It’s an excellent base for exploring the sights and activities in and around Turangi.

The host was very nice, though the area itself was a little boring.
