Best breakfast, with homemade raspberry jam that was to die for. My husband and I had a wonderful three-night stay at this beautiful lodge last week. The rooms were large and inviting, and the beds were amazing, best linen ever! Jane and Peter were great hosts, and Pete was a wonderful tour guide. We’ll certainly be back. Can’t wait to return!

We only had one night because of our flight plans in Christchurch, but it was well worthwhile. The rooms were large, very clean and quiet, with ensuites and a homely feel you don’t get in bigger hotels. We had the continental breakfast, while other guests ordered bacon, eggs and pancakes. Jim was right on it! Jim & Mary suggested a drive around the area since we arrived earlier than planned. Mt Cook was incredible, with sensational views. They also recommended Poppy's in town for dinner, which I can recommend too. Try the ice cream!

On my motorcycle trip all around South Island, New Zealand, Heartland Lodge was my favourite of all the places I stayed. Jim & Mary are two of the nicest, friendliest people I met, and I highly recommend their B&B in Twizel. It’s very close to Mt Cook, with plenty of activities in the surrounding area. The views were stupendous, even though it rained a bit while we were there. Breakfast was outstanding, and the hosts struck a fine balance between giving us privacy and spending time with us. My wife booked this stay on a bit of a lark, but we were very pleasantly surprised. We had a wonderful time. Highly recommended!

We felt at home from the moment we arrived. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and looked after by very welcoming hosts. I’ve stayed in plenty of international four-star-plus hotels for work, and many of them wouldn’t match Heartland Lodge for service or quality. Thanks for such a memorable stay. I’d happily recommend it.
