Clean, spacious and well equipped, with plenty of cooking utensils and a decent smart TV. Waihi Beach is right across the road, and the shops, with lots of different options, are about a five-minute walk away. The host, whose name I’ve forgotten, was genuinely helpful and happy to do anything we asked. A great place, and I’d return and recommend it.

We visited in summer and the location was great, with the beach just a 40-second walk away and shops close by. The unit was tidy, and the beds were clean and tidy too. Service was excellent. But the kitchen taps are ridiculous, and the shower was either boiling or cold with no warm water. Even with two fans it was very hot inside, and there’s no air conditioning. Some power points seemed dodgy enough to make me think I might get an electric shock. Fine for a short stay of a few days.
