We really appreciated the extra space, and the beds were comfortable. The motel was hard for us to find, but very clean, with a handy kitchenette and dining table for meals. Some bathroom bulbs were missing; the owner came straight over to replace them. The office closes after hours, but if you ring the doorbell someone will probably answer. The conditioner bottle had shampoo in it, so my hair got doubly clean!

The hosts were warm and welcoming, and clearly cared about making our stay good. Their local tips were helpful, and there were thoughtful touches around the motel. Alpine Motel is in a great spot, an easy walk to the lakefront, cafes and shops, while still quiet enough to relax and take in the alpine views. Our room was spacious, parking was excellent, and everything was spotless and well maintained. It had what we needed for a comfortable visit. Highly recommend it to anyone coming to Wanaka.

The owners were incredibly helpful, and it’s clear they’ve put care into equipping the rooms. We had almost everything we needed to cook for ourselves and enjoy the stay, plus there’s a little playground and barbecue area. After several weeks travelling around New Zealand and staying in some nice hotels, this is one of our favourites. It’s very clean, well appointed and in a good location. Just great!

It was my first time staying in a motel, and we got upgraded to a huge family place, almost like a house. The welcome when we arrived was great. I’d definitely stay again.

The rooms were fantastic, really comfortable and quiet, with the biggest TV I’ve ever seen in a motel room. It was an easy five-minute walk into town. When we came out to the car, towels had been put over the windscreens to stop them icing up, a lovely touch. We called the motel directly and Karen answered. She was wonderful, and booked us two rooms over the phone. She also suggested a couple of interesting stops for our trip from Te Anau. Thanks so much, Karen, for a great stay. We’ll be back.
