I don’t understand why this place gets such good reviews, which is what I relied on when I booked. They say they welcome feedback, but then seem to call you a liar about everything you raise. The main issue was that I couldn’t reach them about problems during my stay. They didn’t answer the phone or return several messages. Yet after I’d left, they apparently had time to write a long response to my review on a booking site. Things can go wrong, but the way you deal with them shows how much respect you have for your customers. I didn’t say it was the worst room I’d ever stayed in. I rated the whole experience 5/10. The room wasn’t that bad. My main complaint was the lack of response, and then their reaction afterward, saying my concerns weren’t true. I stay in hundreds of rooms each year across all kinds of classes, so I think I can give an accurate review.

The room and its amazing view were so lovely that I added another night to my booking. One thing to know: there are big bumblebees right outside the window, and without fly screens it’s difficult to let fresh air in comfortably. Aside from that, I highly recommend the place.

It’s peaceful here even though Wanaka is close by, and the location and views are great. Check-in was easy, and the modern facilities don’t feel like corners were cut. This little hideaway has everything needed for a comfortable stay. I’d come back and stay longer.

The bed was extremely comfortable, which matters most to me, and the place had everything from a coffee pod machine to a bathroom towel warmer. It’s only a five-minute drive to the main area, too. Great value overall, and I’d highly recommend it.

After a long walk, it was especially nice to come back to a hot bath. This lodge is a cozy, peaceful little escape with mountain views, tucked away from the bustle of Wanaka.
