They were great about fitting us in around our check-in time, and we got 12gb of WiFi for two nights. It worked really well. The lodge bedroom was okay and the beds reasonably comfortable, but the place felt a bit run down. The bathroom needs updating, and there was gum underneath the top bunk. The location's good, though a room facing the street gets really loud because of the bar. It also seemed expensive compared with other places I've stayed.

The location was spot on, right across from the Salvation Army shop with tons of great finds and the Irish pub with live music every night. I loved it here. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and I'd choose a hostel like this over bigger places like Base or YHA. It was slow season, so I shared the six-person dorm with just one other girl. The kitchen was clean, and there were nice lounges and a good selection of books.

We had a separate room with our 16mth old daughter and found it comfortable, with friendly staff who even lent us a jogging pram so we could go for a run together. The price was reasonable, and the central location was convenient. We'd stay again. (Mar2017)

We needed somewhere cheap that still had a vacant private bedroom and bathroom that day, and this backpackers lodge fit the bill. For a budget stay, it's good enough for a night in. It had a few hotel-like basics: an AC heat pump, bathroom heater, little TV, tiny fridge, and 1GB free WiFi with a voucher code on arrival. There's also an old shared kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining areas, and coin-operated washers and dryers. The bathroom setup is unusual, with the shower, toilet, and sink all on one floor, but it's angled so the curtain keeps water in. The woman at the counter was quiet-spoken but helpful when we needed replacement AC remotes. It was surprisingly not too noisy with the windows shut and facing inward rather than roadside.

The room was a decent size and came with an ensuite, and the WiFi was reliable. We enjoyed our four nights, especially the great location close to the town centre and shops. The shared kitchen smelled odd and looked pretty worn, and the TV room was a bit tired too. Still, good value overall.
