It was a quiet campground and we enjoyed our stay. The site was a fair way from town, so it meant a decent walk or a short drive. Our tent and car fit in a reasonably sized spot, sheltered fairly well from the wind. The ground was flat, though a bit dry for pegs. At first we were put on a site with no flat ground or railing for drying the tent, but the staff were kind and let us move. Facilities were spread around the camp. The bathrooms near us were unisex and adequate, though they smelled a little. We could also smell the horses next door when the wind blew our way.

I stayed twice, once on a powered site and once without power, and the experience really seemed to depend on where you were placed. The campervan spots felt roomy, and the facilities at the top of the hill were clearly the best. Elsewhere, the amenities felt too small for the number of campers, especially the toilets and kitchen space, and that part of the park seemed neglected. There weren't enough seats in the kitchens, or cooking utensils, pots, and pans, so it was hard to get a sense of community. The facilities also felt dated and not very clean, as others have mentioned. I’d stayed at several other holiday parks beforehand. This place has potential, but there are areas that need work.

The owners were so welcoming and helpful that they even helped us fix our car. We felt very well looked after and are grateful for their help. The campsite itself was clean and well maintained, with beautiful surroundings and stunning views. It was peaceful but still close to the town centre. We’d gladly stay again and recommend it to anyone wanting a friendly, clean site in a convenient location.

The reception staff were pleasant, but seemed out of their depth. I wouldn't recommend this place. It was expensive for what we got, and the property felt tired, dated, dirty, and poorly maintained. Cleaning once a day wasn't enough for the number of guests, and the kitchens were dirty, with many guests leaving mess behind. Empty dish detergent containers didn't help. There was a terrible smell behind our room. I suspect the septic tanks weren't maintained either, since two toilets in the women's bathroom by reception were blocked. The pool looked grubby, as if its filtration wasn't working.

It was peak summer and the place was busy. The facilities weren't as clean as those at other holiday parks we've stayed in. The pool and playground could be nice for families with children. The location was about a 10-15 minute walk from the city, and we decided to cut our stay short and carry on to Te Anau.
