Tasman Holiday Parks – Wanaka

The cabin itself was clean, with a side table and lamp, and the location was great. The bathrooms needed attention, and the kitchen was just okay. The fridges and freezers could use a proper defrost and scrub. I’d recommend it for a night or two.

The location worked well for us, close to restaurants and the lakeside, and parking right outside our cabin was convenient. We used the place for two nights as a base between Wanaka and Milford Sound, and late check-in went smoothly. Our two-bed cabin had a small kitchenette with utensils, a fridge, and a microwave. The furniture looked old and worn, though it was reasonably maintained. There were only one towel for our group of three when we arrived, so we skipped showering that night. Staff brought the other towels early the next morning. The beds weren’t especially comfortable, but for the price we felt it was a pretty good stay.

We’d happily return to Tasman Holiday Parks Wanaka. It’s in a beautiful spot, and the park was spotless and well looked after. The modern facilities were really clean, too. One of the best holiday parks we’ve stayed at!

Tilly, the friendly camp cat, was a lovely highlight, and most of our stay at Tasman Wanaka Motor Lodge was satisfactory. The powered camper sites were the hard part. They’re extremely tight, and the raised curbs make it difficult to manoeuvre, especially in a rental camper. You’ll need to be very careful to avoid scraping or curbing a wheel. We saw several campers struggle to get in and out, and some couples seemed stressed and were arguing. We’ve stayed at more than 15 holiday parks across both islands, and haven’t seen this unusual setup elsewhere. If you’re in a campervan, be aware there’s a chance of damage to the wheels or vehicle.
