The Willows Wanaka

For what we paid in NZ, this was fantastic value. The apartment was spacious and clean, and the kitchen was tidy, well kept, and stocked with everything we needed.

Adrien was always so helpful. The units were cozy, attractive and comfortable, and the price was very reasonable. The location worked perfectly too. This was probably my favorite place to stay on my trip around New Zealand. Highly recommend!

The welcome was one of the first things that stood out. We booked through Booking.com, and the whole family was pleased as soon as we walked in. Willow Wanaka Apartments was spotless and clearly carefully maintained, with a Guest Handbook explaining things like laundry and rubbish, plus labels around the kitchen and laundry that made everything easy to find. We found the location handy for dinner. We were too tired to go far, so the 15-minute walk to Pizza Pizza was just right, and ordering by phone and picking it up was easy. The apartment had a warm, inviting feel, with tasteful furniture and soft lighting, almost like a modern IKEA showroom. It was well insulated and stayed warm at night without us needing a heater. The living room smart TV was simple to use, with local channels and Netflix, and the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. The kitchen had plenty of space and was thoughtfully laid out with a dining bench and tall stools. It was stocked with plates, cups, cutlery, oil, cleaning supplies, an oven, dishwasher, coffee, tea, salt and pepper, and more, so it would suit a family or a longer stay. Both bedrooms were comfortable, one with a queen bed and the other with two singles. There was a desk, lamps, well placed power points and luggage stands in both rooms, as well as a coat rack by the entrance and a shoe rack to keep things tidy. It worked well for four of us. The bathroom was just as well equipped, with double sinks, a separate toilet area and a clean, roomy shower. Shampoo and shower gel were provided, along with a hairdryer, hand and bath towels, heating and air ventilation. There was also a useful roll-out trolley for extra storage. We’d definitely stay again and highly recommend it.

The apartment was right in the center, which was handy, and it was well maintained with good amenities. We had the larger two-bedroom unit with a kitchen. The two sofas were really uncomfortable to sit on, so replacing them would be a good improvement. Also, don’t choose this apartment expecting a stunning view, because there isn’t one.
