Trinity Hotel Wellington

The staff really made a difference. They were friendly and helpful, the cleaning staff greeted me each day, and at checkout the receptionist offered to keep my bags behind reception. She even said I could come back if I couldn’t leave them at my next destination. The room met my expectations and was affordable, with bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance. Since I was on the top floor by the rooftop bar on a busy street, there was some noise, but it never bothered me too much.

In Te Aro, close enough to walk pretty much anywhere, but without heaps of traffic or pubs nearby. The rooms are clean and have the basics, and the price is good for what you get, even though it’s not a flash hotel. Parking was cheaper than at the nearby multi-storey, and the staff were friendly. There’s a great rooftop bar, plus an option at street level. No late food or room service, but being right in town makes that manageable. This will probably be our regular Wellington spot.

We ate and had drinks at Arborist. The prices were reasonable for the inner city and we all enjoyed our meals. Our compact room had everything we needed, and the hotel was good value. It’s well placed for walking to the waterfront, Te Papa and the cable car. I’d recommend it.

I felt very safe here as a solo woman travelling, and for the price it was a great place to stay. The room was small but had a nice view from the top floor. The bathroom was small too, though the shower got very hot and had excellent pressure. The bed was so comfortable I don’t remember falling asleep. There was no air conditioning, so the room got a little warm, but opening the window sorted that out. The front desk staff were lovely. I gave the service a 4 because Arborist was closed when I’d wanted to go, though that meant I explored other dinner options. The train and bus are an easy walk away.
