Amber Court Motel Whakatane

Just minutes from Ohope Beach, this place is a gem. I was so happy with the great rate and the quiet room, which had everything. I hadn’t expected an apartment-style setup.

The truck start-ups next door in the early hours were a problem, and the security light kept switching on all night, lighting up the room like a daylight strobe show. I only slept for an hour. The place is very dated, and the shower was so bad you’d be better off showering from a hose. Never stay here.

The boys stayed here for two weeks while working nearby. The place was friendly, quiet and tidy, with awesome staff and cosy, warm, comfortable beds. It’s close to everything, too. The only downside was having to leave. Keep up the great Mahi, guys!

I paid $1,400 for a week, but management has a serious problem with visitors. The rules say NO VISITORS, even though the motel advertises that visitors can come but have to leave by 8pm. My partner arrived at 7:30am and management knocked on my door to say he had to leave immediately. There was no consideration at all. He’s been sleeping out on the road, even though I told management I could pay whatever it cost for him to stay. They denied my request multiple times. I don’t know what the problem is, but it’s so unfair. At this point I’m ready to pack up and leave with my infant. I won’t recommend this place if you have extra guests, even if you have the money, because they’ll deny your request. I’m never coming back.
