Winton Commercial Hotel

I had the steak sandwich. The food was fair, and the coffee was good.

I'd read all the good comments and made a special trip into town hoping for the recommended hot pizza, so I was really disappointed. I ordered a gluten-free margherita for takeaway on a quiet Saturday afternoon. They said it would take 15 to 20 minutes; I came back within that window, then waited another 15 minutes at the bar. The pizza was awful. The cheese had cooled and gone rubbery, and the pesto and tomato were cold too. Heating it at home didn't help. It was hot then, but greasy, bland, and tasteless. We'd also tried to come midweek, only to find the kitchen closed. 😒

The meals were lovely and cooked beautifully. My one complaint is that my meal, like many of the others that came with salads, was absolutely covered in salad. There was still salad left on all the plates afterward, so they could probably serve less of it.

The pumpkin, beetroot and feta salad was excellent, and the service was nice too. I needed a break and had a cold beer with it. The hotel was being renovated (10-4-21), and from the road its appearance is misleading. It turned into a charming visit to the bar and restaurant.
